Carmen Menza is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice spans video, light, sculpture, painting and music. Her professional background includes a career in broadcast television as an editor, graphics designer and director as well as receiving her BFA in jazz guitar performance from the University of North Texas. Her work has manifested itself in the form of new media, software based light sculptures, LED light boxes, oil on canvas, music and works of neon. Her short film titled “Dream Big” made for Dallas Aurora 2013 was selected as one of the featured artists at the show. It also screened at Dallas VideoFest 2014 and Dallas VideoFest in Houston 2015. For Dallas Aurora 2015 she created The “Theory of Chance”, a multi-layered interactive installation focusing on the generative transformation of visuals and light through sound. Her work is part of the permanent collection at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary Museum in Dallas. She has exhibited at The Women’s Museum, Dallas, TX, The Museum of Geometric and MADI Art, Dallas, TX in addition to numerous group and solo shows.
